Board Member: Robert Mittelstadt

Robert Mittelstadt, a founding board member of RENEW SF, is an independent practicing architect with an office in North Beach since 1985 and primary residence on Telegraph Hill since 2002. Bob is committed to neighborhood improvements, and is a member of the North Beach Merchants Association, Friends of Washington Square Park and Telegraph Hill Dwellers.

Over the years, Bob has taught architecture at world renowned institutions such as UC Berkeley, Columbia, the Catholic University in Washington D.C. and Stanford, where he was head of the architecture program. Some of Bob's notable architectural achievements include the (original) Cantor Rodin Sculpture Garden at Stanford, the 75 Hawthorne office tower in San Francisco, and the former Fremont Civic Center in Fremont, California.

In the North Beach neighborhood, Bob led the team consisting of Tito Patri, Auerbach & Associates and FW Associates that designed the internal lighting of Washington Square Park. As part of a RENEW SF project, Robert is working on the second phase of the project enhancing the lighting and aesthetics of this important neighborhood park.
